The Emergency Room is platinum standard for care. I usually go there by ambulance so they'll admit me faster, but if I have to go through the E.R. waiting room they usually treat me within 30 - 45 minutes even if it's busy."

Florida

City: Panama City

Facility: Bay Medical Center

Survey rating: 1

Year of experience: 2025

Patient comments: "I have been here several times it all just depends on the doctor that works. The doctor I had the last time said their protocol for sickle cell patients was they would get blood work and if my hemoglobin was not under 6.0 then they would send me home with no treatment. It took the doctor 5 hours to give me something for pain even though the nurse I had was sticking up for me and kept asking him to order something for pain and even though I had waited that long he gave me the lowest dose possible and made me wait 8 more hours before I got anything else for pain. This hospital needs people that actually care and a proper protocol on how to manage sickle cell patients."
